What is Joomla?

Joomla is an award-winning content management system (CMS), which enables you to build Web sites and powerful online applications. Many aspects, including its ease-of-use and extensibility, have made Joomla the most popular Web site software available.

Best of all, Joomla is an open source solution that is freely available to everyone. Joomla can be used for:

Corporate Web sites or portals
Corporate intranets and extranets Online magazines, newspapers, and publications
E-commerce and online reservations Government applications
Small business Web sites
Non-profit and organizational Web sites
Community-based portals School and church Web sites
Personal or family homepages

If you want to discuss the viability of Joomla for your website with a Joomla developer, please drop me a line by clicking here.

What is Wordpress?

WordPress is a free and open source blogging tool and a content management system (CMS) based on PHP and MySQL which runs on a web hosting service. Features include a plug-in architecture and a template system.

WordPress is used by over 18.9% of the top 10 million websites as of August 2013. WordPress is currently the most popular blogging system being used on the Web, powering over 60 million websites worldwide.

Wordpress is preferred over Joomla due to it’s simplicity. It is great for blogs, news sites, portfolios and small company sites but if it is something more complex you are looking for, Joomla may be the better choice.
